My lovely cousin Chelsea married the love of her life, Dakota, at Newlands Golf Club. I blogged about parts of it before in my column on UrbanMoms.ca but I wanted to share some more photos and stories from the big day. We got stuck in traffic and had some other drama on the way and missed the ceremony.
My mom was sweet enough to text photos of the ceremony as it occurred. We got to the reception in time and had a blast. The decorating was lovely. It all looked so pretty.
We were very well fed and the beverages flowed. I realized a dress is basically a fancy substitute for turkey eating pants.
I had such a great time with my beautiful family. They were so silly. That’s my favourite part of family weddings – getting to be silly with the people I love. Life is too serious a lot of the time. It’s so nice to just forget about it for a while and focus on young love and hope of the future.
Something that brought us to tears were the speeches and the dances. It was emotional and beautiful and perfect. They were also pretty funny. I was so thankful to bear witness to the celebration of their marriage.
I really wanted to dance, but my partner was at times reluctant and I had no choice but to take matters into my own hands. One simply doesn’t say no to a Zumba girl when her jam is playing.
We had a lovely time thanks to the staff at Newlands and our gracious hosts, Mr. and Mrs. O’Dell. I wish them every happiness in their life together. Their love was shining as brightly as the twinkling lights that adorned the reception hall.
I’m so thankful for time spent dancing, eating, drinking, celebrating, and even making a little music together. I can’t wait until the next family wedding for more fun, quality time with these two.
